Being right on the water’s edge and amongst some of the most picturesque scenery this property is ideal for adventure lovers and all things outdoors

Description

If you’re seeking an extraordinary property for your holiday then look no further than Brandlehow. This private characterful cottage is positioned right on the edge of Derwentwater, with the Woods and Catbells behind, and even has a famous neighbour, the much loved ‘Teddy in the Window’!

Being right on the water’s edge and amongst some of the most picturesque scenery this property is ideal for adventure lovers and all things outdoors! There is plenty of space in the property to store bikes, paddleboards and kayaks, before launching from the front door!
The journey to this cottage is a wonderful experience in itself with stunning views on route, followed by a private access road through the woods to lead you to your holiday home.

On entering the property you’ll be greeted by the farmhouse style kitchen with plenty of worktop space, fridge-freezer, double sinks, and stove. There is a dishwasher, however you may find yourself volunteering to do the washing up just to admire the amazing views over Derwentwater! The large dining table makes this the perfect space to gather together with family and friends to socialise and dine. The utility off the kitchen provides plenty of space for boots and coats, and has a washing machine and dryer.

Pass through the spacious hallway, where there is access to the garden, to find yourself in the homely living room with leather sofas, wall mounted TV and cosy log burning stove.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two king bedrooms, one double and one single bedroom, all well furnished with solid furniture, quality Lake District artwork, and with beds dressed in luxury crisp linen. The master bedroom has the added bonus of a wall mounted TV and also an ensuite shower room.

The modern family bathroom is conveniently positioned between the bedrooms and has a bath with shower over.

There are two areas upstairs on the landings with seating, one of which also has a desk, where you can escape to take a quiet moment and admire the views.

Despite how lovely the house is, the enclosed garden with fire pit is most likely going to be where you’ll spend most of your time! The views and scenery are breath-taking (even on a dull day) and it would be difficult to find a more idyllic location!

Fancy an extra treat for your holiday? Hot tub hire is available (add on extras page)

There is a Keswick Launch jetty nearby for easy access to attractions including Nichol End, Lingholm, and central Keswick. If you fancy an evening meal or drink closer to home the Borrowdale Gates and Lodore Falls are less than 1.5 miles away.

Please be aware the access road may flood during the rainy season, if this occurs the house can be accessed via a footpath at the rear.

Reviews

Possibly the best located holiday cottage in the Lake District.
We booked this cottage because we like to take our two spaniels to nice places. This is the most dog friendly place we have ever been. Secure, large garden and stunning traffic-free walks literally from your doorstep. We stayed late November when the ferry was not running, a round trip to Kewick in the car for shopping is at leat an hour so arrive well stocked. If the weather gods play ball, watch beautiful reflections on the lake by day and the Milky Way at night. Last but not least, Keswick Cottages were efficient, professional and a pleasure to deal with. Book direct for best price.

Thank you for your fantastic review, we are delighted that both the spaniels and yourselves enjoyed your stay at Brandlehow! It sounds totally idyllic and we hope that you all feel well rested after your peaceful stay by Derwentwater. Thank you for the kind comments about the service, that's made our day! We hope to host you again for another Lakeland break. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages.

A lovely cottage in a fabulous location. Cottage quirky but comfortable. Isolated but connected to the outside by the bus and boat. Walks from the door. Did not use car all week. Would have liked to see more and nicer garden furniture and a corkscrew would not have gone a miss!

Thank you so much for your review! We are so happy you found the cottage quirky and comfortable, situated on the shores of Derwentwater, you feel emersed in the surrounding nature. You can either catch the bus or boat to head into Keswick. Thank you for your comments about the garden furniture, we will pass this onto the owners. We hope you had a wonderful time and we hope to welcome you back. Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Fabulous cottage, stunning location. Enjoyed the hot tub but perhaps should have been included in the overall price of the accommodation and not as an extra. We found there were only 2 folding chairs for outside and needed couple more for older members of party to carry down to lakeside. Overall a really enjoyable week

We had a great week at Brandlehow … lakeside location is just stunning, and being at the foot of Cat Bells provides an awesome backdrop and temptation for walking. The problem is … the cottage is soooo comfy and has multiple nooks & spaces for chilling, reading, dozing. We loved it!!
Charming big house in an incredible location We spent a week-long family vacation in this house and really enjoyed it. The location directly at the lake was amazing. Although it is very remote, we hardly used the car as there are a lot of nice walks you can do from the house. Additionally, there is a jetty just two minutes walking distance from the house where a ferry to Keswick stops. The house is nice and very large. while the kitchen is very cosy, the furniture in the rest of the house is rather basic and not particularly charming or stylish. It's all about the location.
