Description

Freshly renovated throughout, Greta House offers a modern and functional space for both families and couples. The property is accessed from Penrith Road, just opposite The Twa Dogs Inn, and is within walking distance of Keswick town centre.

The front door leads into the sophisticated open plan living and kitchen area, where you will find plenty of space to hang coats and store boots. There would be enough room here to keep a pram if needed. The living area is furnished with 2 plush leather sofas, a built-in bar which is kitted out with cocktail making equipment, wall-mounted 42-inch smart TV and log burning stove for those chilly nights by the fire.

Beyond the living area you will see the dining table, which seats 4 people comfortably. In this central section you can also find the integrated fridge and freezer, kettle and toaster. Food preparation is possible around the corner in the main kitchen area, which also houses the electric oven/grill, induction hob, dishwasher, sink with hose attachment, air-fryer and washer/dryer.

The kitchen is filled with light thanks to the bi-fold doors that open out onto the delightful patio area. You can enjoy al-fresco meals around the large outdoor dining table whilst soaking up the views and the sounds of the River Greta. From the patio you can walk through the lawned area to a beautiful deck complete with outdoor sofa and parasol, for those lazy days by the water.

Heading back up towards the house, you will find an outdoor kitchen area to your left, perfect for the Summer months.

Once inside, walk back through to the living room and up the stairs to the 1st floor hallway. Straight ahead, at the front of the property, you can find the master suite. The bedroom is furnished with a double bed, bedside tables and lights, and clothing rails. The ensuite comprises walk in shower, WC, heated towel rail and sink.

The second bedroom can be found at the rear of the property and benefits from beautiful views over the garden and River Greta, which are on full display thanks to the floor-ceiling casement window. The addition of a Juliette balcony means that you can open this up to enjoy the surroundings from the comfort of your bed! This room is furnished with a super-king bed, which can be made up into a twin upon request (£15 additional fee).

Finally, across the hall you can find the bathroom which comprises walk in waterfall shower, sink, WC and heated towel rail. Towels are provided.

There is a bus stop close by which will take you into the town centre and for guests travelling by car there is unrestricted on-street parking across the road.

Keswick offers plenty of options to keep you occupied during your stay. For walkers the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trial which starts next to the Keswick Leisure centre is a 5 kilometre (10 kilometre there and back) walk along what was once a railway track. It offers beautiful views and is a multi-user trial suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. If you fancy something with a little more elevation and spectacular views, Latrigg and Walla Crag can be reached from your doorstep, and you can even tick off some Wainwrights! 10 minutes out of Keswick is Whinlatter forest, which offers a huge selection of walks and outdoor activities.

Keswick itself offers lots of amenities, from shops to cafés, pubs to theatres, you will be spoilt for choice.

Reviews

A haven in Keswick
We had an amazing stay in Greta House. It is newly refurbished to an extremely high and contemporary standard. The owners have gone way above the finish you would expect to find in holiday rental. The linen, duvets, towels crockery and glassware are really high quality. The house is small but there are two lovely bathrooms and decent sized bedrooms. The downstairs open plan living space is fantastic and includes two large comfy sofas, log burner, bar, pantry cupboard, coffee tables, smart TV, and bi-fold doors out to the garden. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need including an induction hob and air fryer. The bed in the bedroom at the back of the house is HUGE and there is full height window that opens onto the garden. The garden is stunning and slopes down to the river Greta. The garden has a dining table and comfy sofa. For dog owners - the garden is not enclosed. One thing to note - the house is on a busy main road and there is traffic noise in the house (but not in the bedroom at the back). We live near to a main road at home and so the noise didn't trouble us but it might be an issue if you are used to a quieter environment. In addition, there are a few parking spaces over the road and while we did not have any issues with parking in February, it might be different in peak season. An amazing stay and we will certainly be back.

Thank you so much for your amazing 5* review of Greta House, we are so happy to hear you had a fantastic stay! The recent refurbishment at the property has been completed to a very high standard with guest needs at the forefront of their designs. It is also in a fantastic location being on the river Greta but also a stones throw away from everything Keswick has to offer. In terms of parking we do find even in the summer there will always be somewhere to park so do not worry! We look forward to your next stay! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Greta House - short weekday break
Greta House is a well presented property within walking distance of the town. The town can be accessed via the Threlkeld to Keswick old railway line, following the river path or via the main road. Parking is opposite the house on a short street which can park around seven cars. We had no difficulty finding a parking space but this might be more tricky in busy periods. The Twa Dogs car park is also opposite the House and may allow parking but we had no reason to enquire about this. The House is adequately equipped. The bedrooms and bathrooms are also adequately equipped. We found the House to be warm and comfortable. The garden is lovely with views and access to the river and benefits from garden furniture.
