A little break in Keswick
Having Multiple Sclerosis and being a wheelchair user I was worried about going away. My family and I look upon the Lakes as our second home, spending years visiting and walking the fells until my diagnosis. Sam's Cottage showed me disability doesn't have to hold you back. The Cottage was lovely. The welcome packs, such a lovely touch. Every bit of space was used to its fullest potential. Will definitely be back. Must mention the drive way. Luckily my husband is a great driver. Please check your vehicle will fit.

Thank you for your amazing review of Sam's Cottage, its fantastic to hear you had such a great stay and the property served you well! Every aspect of Sam's has been thoroughly planned out to ensure those with disabilities and mobility issues can enjoy their stay with ease! We hope you have now found somewhere that you can return to when you visit your second home! We look forward to welcoming you back! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Good wheelchair accessible cottage
Sam's Cottage is a lovely cottage right in the middle of Keswick 2 minutes walk from the nearest shops, restaurants and pubs and 5 minutes walk to the parks and Lake. The floors are all hard floors so easy to move around when using a wheelchair. Lovely big bathroom is to move around in a shower chair and the open plan living room kitchen is excellent. We paid extra for a breakfast hamper and another hamper, the food in them was of the highest quality and well worth the extra spend. We also had our little dog with us which only cost a one off payment of £20 which is a lot cheaper than many places. I would highly recommend this cottage to wheelchair users. Small downside is the passage way you have to drive down, it is so narrow. I have a BMW 5 series tourer and had to reverse down with my wing mirrors folded in (after scratching the car trying to go in forwards. Also cars will park for short periods on the opposite side of the road to the passage way stopping you getting in or out in your car (you just have to wait).

Thank you for your lovely review of Sam's Cottage, we are so happy to hear you had a great stay! Sam's is a fantastic property and fully accessible to those with disabilities, allowing you to enjoy a relaxed and independent stay. The location is definitely a bonus with all Keswick's attractions and amenities at your doorstep. We are sorry to hear about your experience getting to the property, your feedback will be passed on to the owners. We hope to welcome you back soon! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Just what we needed!
My sister and I wanted to take our fairly recently disabled mother on a little holiday to give my dad, who is her full time carer some much needed respite. I spent hours searching for a property that catered for my mums unique needs. Lots of properties say they are wheelchair friendly or disabled friendly and it's only when you interrogate the photos and you realise it's not what you actually need. The handrails maybe on the wrong side, there is a gravel drive, a walk in shower but it's actually a shower tray…… I found it incredible difficult and frustrating. I came across Sam's cottage via one of my many google searches and reached out to the team with various questions. All were answered promptly, honestly and with friendliness and professionalism. The property was absolutely perfect for what we needed and whilst there were a few less aids than what she has at home (bed raiser/standing chair) between me and my sister we managed it. My mum had a really lovely time, sadly since her accident the vast majority of her time is spent sitting in front of the tv at home. Keswick itself was by far our favourite villages, we visited a few during our stay. The location of the cottage could not of been anymore perfect, with everything you need literally on the doorstep. The contact from the team was perfectly timed and toned, ensuring we were all ok and if there was anything further they could do. We have said that we would like to make this an annual arrangement with my mum, I hope we get the opportunity to do so. The postcode only takes you so far then you have to carefully follow the instructions, these could be perhaps a little clearer with a photo included of the alley way would be useful- you need to pay attention. Keep your eye open for Sultan Indian restaurant on the left, the turning to the alleyway is immediately opposite on the right. A gap between a gallery and wood house pizza, there are remnants of green writing on the wall of the alleyway . We drove past without realising then found ourselves in a predicament with no doubling back as it was a one way system and no mobile phone reception to go back to the post code and try again. Signal on all 3 of our phones was non existent. We didn't eventually find it, the alleyway is tight, wing mirrors needed pulling in. My car is a Kia Xceed. If you drive a 4x4 you would not get the car down the alley way. Also people did on occasion park outside the sultan restaurant on double yellows opposite the entrance to the alley which makes manoeuvring into the alley absolutely impossible. Whilst this is mentioned on the website I think it should perhaps include measurements or a photo. Had I of driven 4 hours then not been able to get my car down the alleyway it would be a very different review. It wasn't actually a problem for us and bore no negative impact on our visit whatsoever BUT it could for others with larger vehicles. Overall our stay was absolutely perfect, Keswick cottages were a delight to deal with. Rebecca was particularly helpful. We are very much planning on visiting again.

Thank you so much for your 5-star review of Sam's Cottage! We're delighted that you had a perfect time staying here and that your Mum had a really lovely time. Were so happy you found the cottage in a great location and that our team answered any queries you had before your stay and during. We will have a look at our arrival instructions to see if we can improve them. Thank you for your kind comments about our team, we really appreciate it! We look forward to welcoming you again on your next visit! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Second time we have stayed at this property. My dad is a wheelchair user and the whole property is designed with a wheelchair user in mind without making it overly obvious. Great location, parking, washing machine and welcome pack. We'll definitely be booking for a 3rd time!
Very warm and comfortable. All the facilities you would need. Hosts were very quick to fix any issues.
Sam's Cottage was beautifully equipped, modern appliances, plenty of them! Really appreciated the extra touches, the welcome pack for the kitchen etc. Nice to have books, DVDs etc, TV is a smart TV. Nice little gizmo in the sitting area giving details of local events/facilities. The location is perfect, just a couple of minutes stroll into Keswick, great for evening meal out etc. We booked and then arrived on the same day, everything ready and in order, thank you!
