Description

Entering the cottage from the porch, the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner provides a charming sociable living space for unwinding after a day of adventures. There is a leather sofa and armchair to curl up on in front of the cosy log-burning stove while you enjoy your favourite series on the Smart TV or a good book.

The brand new kitchen overlooks the pretty garden and comes fully equipped with fridge, induction hob, oven, microwave and dishwasher. On warmer days why not open up the french doors for an al fresco drink and nibble - or even just a serene moment observing the comings and goings of the resident birds and wildlife. At the back of the garage there is a useful utility space with freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer.

Moving upstairs there are two beautiful bedrooms. The master bedroom is at the front of the cottage with king size bed, double windows and plenty of storage space, and the twin bedroom is to the back of the cottage. Both bedrooms have quality beds and mattresses, made up with crisp white bed linen and towels. The bathroom has a mirror with lighting, WC hand wash basin and beautiful bath with shower over, ideal for reinvigorating tired muscles,

There is an electric vehicle charging point next to the private allocated covered car parking space (please note the charging point is shared with Spa Cottage next door)

Guests can enjoy complimentary WiFi

There is an abundance of choice when it comes to walking routes, or why not bring your bike with you to see even more of this beautiful area with pedal power. There is a lockable shed at the back of the garden for storage.

It would be easy to park up and enjoy a jam-packed car-free holiday. Braithwaite amenities include three lovely pubs serving food and local ales, village shop and a tea room. Theres nearby Whinlatter Forest along with a huge selection of walks and outdoor activities to choose from, a nearby bus stop with routes taking you all over the Lake District, and Keswick town centre only minutes away.

Short winter break at Glen Cottage
We had a lovely stay in this very cosy and comfortable cottage in the centre of Braithwaite village. The property is well equipped and with a good enclosed rear garden which would be a very pleasant spot to sit in the warmer weather. The garage might be a bit small for larger cars but there’s ample parking space at the front of the property. We were lucky to have dry, bright weather and even though it was quite cold the cottage was always lovely and warm. We’d certainly be happy to make a return visit in the future.

Thank you for your terrific 5* review! It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Glen Cottage, what a bonus that the weather was good for you as well, it sounds like a perfect stay! We'd love to have you back and hope to hear from you soon :-) Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Fantastic location
Had a nice stay at Glen Cottage, the location is excellent with many walks direct from the door, parking was a bonus. The enclosed garden was perfect for our 2 dogs and could imagine it being beautiful in Summer. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of cutlery and good quality crockery. There is a small freezer outside which we weren’t expecting, if only we had known in advance! No second settee as mentioned. On the negative side when we arrived the house was not very warm ( air pump heating) the cold snap was predicted, so would have expected the property to be heated accordingly. We were unable to adjust the heating which seemed to be controlled remotely by the owner, we telephoned Keswick Cottages and asked for this to be turned up but in truth the difference over our 4 day stay was minimal and we bought a supply of logs to supplement the heating. As a party of 3 adults we found the sleeping arrangements cramped , impossible for 2 people to be in the double room at the same time apart from sleeping. No storage at all , we never unpacked. The duvets as we discovered when we stripped the beds to leave were 4:5 tog, I would have expected Winter weight ones given the time of year and the predicted bitter weather. We love Braithwaite and have had many holidays in the area, we would possibly return to Glen Cottage but as a couple and not a family and at a warmer time of year.
Autumn Break in Braithwaite at Glen Cottage
Just returned from an amazing week at Glen Cottage in Braithwaite, the perfect place to explore the hills around the Newlands Valley, both low and high level walking, with the benefit of 2 pubs in the village to recoup, and some lovely tea rooms too, if you can't be bothered to cook. The Keswick Cottages staff are really helpful too, whenever we need our Lake District boost, we always come to Keswick, and use this service, we've never had a bad experience.

Thank you for the amazing 5* review! We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in Glen Cottage, it sounds like you had a wonderful time exploring the area and sampling the lovely local eateries. We're so happy that you continue to return to Keswick, we look forward to hosting you again next time! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Lovely cottage, very clean, plenty of crockery etc.Nice & warm with the underfloor heating.Great location with corner shop, pub 2 mins walk away, but would book a table in advance.Highly recommended
Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. Tastefully decorated. The kitchen has everything you need with the add utility room. The lounge is comfortable for 2 adults. 2 bedroom master has a hanging rail and draws . The twin bedroom has no wordrobe storage. The bathroom is modern with a rain full shower. The add extra of the garden is brilliant on a sunny day. Parking in the garage is a bit tricky but we managed with a large vehicle.
The property was absolutely incredible lovely quiet village with local shop only 50 yards from the front door. Cosy interior with amazing log burner and the garden was lovely to enjoy a glass of wine with in the evening. We will 100% be back again
