Lake view cottage
Lake view cottage is a loving place to stay , very clean well maintained very comfortable , great location not far from Keswick or Cockermouth, We had a issue with the boiler not working rang Keswick cottage emergency number waited for someone to ring us back but 4 hour later no one did , with not having hot water or heating we thought someone would ring us back that night or the next day but no one did ,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay, we hope that you had a wonderful time exploring Keswick and beyond. The location does make an excellent base, and the views towards Bassenthwaite Lake are difficult to beat! It was myself monitoring our out of hours number during your stay, unfortunately the only voicemail message we had was one letting us know that the heating and hot water was back on, but nothing prior on our out of hours service to let us know that the boiler was not working. We did then try to contact you the following day to ensure that the boiler was still working as it should, and you had not experienced any further problems. Please know we are a small local team and will do everything we can to minimise any inconvenience to our guests. If a problem is reported on our out of hours line we ask that guests leave a voicemail message so we can assess the problem and organise the appropriate resolve, then you will receive a call back within a few minutes to confirm we have received your report and let you know what action has been taken. We are very sorry that you had an issue with the boiler during your holiday. We of course hope to welcome you for another visit very soon. Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Relaxing stay
Great location - very quiet, beautiful surroundings. Plenty of parking space. Spacious apartment, comfortable, nicely decorated. Kitchen well equipped. Good heating throughout. Cons: - no cutlery in the kitchen! - the entrance is towards the back across a gravelled stretch and up a set of stairs; so not quite accessible if someone has restricted mobility

Thank you very much for your kind comments. The modern facilities, peaceful location and beautiful views do make a fantastic choice for anyone seeking some R&R on their break. I'm so sorry to hear that you did not come across the cutlery during your holiday. The cutlery is inside the drawer next to the oven (under the counter). This is of course an essential for a self-catering holiday, we do regular inventory checks to ensure our guests find the kitchen to be well equipped. Please be assured we are a small local agency and know our properties inside out, so never hesitate to contact us. We hope to welcome you again very soon! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

It was just like home from home, everything you could ever need is right there. Great place to stay and make memories that last a lifetime, would definitely return. Highly recommended.
Lake View is located in Thornthwaite Powter Howe. It is a lovely location if you enjoy a short wander or a long hike, both are easily achieved. From the property itself there is a short walk alongside sheep filled fields through a small wood which leads down to the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake - less than a five minutes amble.. Conveniently the X5 bus stop is just outside, £2.00 to anywhere along the route. Travel to Keswick, Penrith or Carlisle in one direction or Cockermouth or Workington in the other. We found this a lovely way to travel, see the views along the way and not worry about the car, parking, etc. About 3 miles takes you into Keswick with all its amenities. Shopping is easy and varied, with plenty of places to grab a bite to eat - breakfast, lunch or dinner. Trips can be taken around Derwent Water by open top bus, lake launch or even victorian style rowing boats. Lake View is exactly that. Looking east are stunning views across the southern end of Bassenthwaite Lake, Dodd Wood, Dodd Summit, Skiddaw and a myriad of other fells beyond. To the west is the impressive Broom Fell featuring the locally famous "Bishop" rock, Whythop Wood and the edge of Whinlatter Forest park. All nestled in a lovely rural setting, very quiet where you can listen to the local wildlife and the sound of babbling brooks. The property enjoys access to a well maintained large garden, ideal for a lazy stroll, beware of the pond if young ones are with you. This is a lovely apartment, enjoys large rooms all of which have wonderful views, there is a large terrace to enjoy and eat outdoors in the sunshine {where possible}, beware:- there are a few steps if you are not mobile - a handful to the front door, several more up to the lounge/diner and a couple of others inside the apartment.
We stayed at the Lake View Cottage in Thornthwaite. It was a beautiful cottage with lovely views. The beds were very comfortable, towels nice and fluffy and kitchen stocked with all amenities that one needs. It served as a great base for us to explore Lake District. It was bank holiday and half term week - the bigger towns were awfully busy. We were so glad that we chose Lake View which was so quiet yet so accessible to the stores etc. There are great walks around the cottage (our favourite was the one which took us to Bassanthwaite lake). Our daughter who is 8 loved the trails and the cottage. And Becca was super helpful on email whenever we had any query. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you very much.
